Travel by train/bus:

To reach Montepulciano from Rome or Florence you have to take a train to Chiusi-Chianciano Terme (ATTENTION: Please do avoid Montepulciano Stazione. This station is about 12 km away from the historical centre and not connected by public transport to Montepulciano centre!).
Please mind, that not all Intercity or Eurostar trains will stop at Chiusi. From Chiusi-Chianciano you will have to take a LFI bus to Montepulciano:  Since the bus tickets are not available on the bus, please buy your ticket (about 3,40 Euro) before starting the trip at the Newspaper shop which is situated in the entrance hall of the station; if this is closed, you can use the Bar Tabacchi Italia on the opposite road in front of the station.
The journey to Montepulciano takes about 50 minutes. Let the bus driver know that you want to get off at the bus stop Porta Farina. Follow the indication Piazza Grande and please bear in mind it is a short but quite steep ascent (about 250 m). Therefore, you can also get off at the last stop called Capolinea.

From here you can catch the local bus shuttle to the historical centre. Again, please buy your ticket before starting the journey. Finally reaching Piazza Grande, turn into Via Ricci, where you will immediately find on your left hand side the European Academy for Music and Performing Arts.

Travel by car:

The historical centre of Montepulciano is closed for the traffic. Please park your car outside the centre in one of the public parking sites near to Fortezza or Duomo. To reach the  Academy please walk the rest of the way (about 250 m). Follow the indication Piazza Grande.
